Demeetra has entered into an agreement with Japan’s RIKEN BioResource Research Center (RIKEN BRC) that broadens academic access to research materials incorporating piggyBac technology.

The agreement expands the scope beyond plasmid vectors to include piggyBac-modified cell lines and animal models, giving researchers additional ways to work with piggyBac-enabled resources in non-commercial academic research.

Through the agreement, eligible researchers can obtain covered resources through RIKEN BRC under a Limited Use License Agreement. Super piggyBac® transposase remains available through Demeetra and its authorized distributors.

For research that progresses toward commercial development, Demeetra can also provide the technology access and licensing needed for commercial applications.

“Expanding access through RIKEN BRC gives researchers more opportunities to work with piggyBac-enabled resources in an academic setting,” said Jack Crawford, CEO of Demeetra. “If that work later moves toward commercial development, Demeetra can provide the technology access and licensing needed to take the next step.”

The agreement builds on RIKEN BRC’s previous relationship with Hera BioLabs, which Demeetra acquired in 2025, and further supports Demeetra’s goal of making its technologies available from the earliest research stages through commercialization.
